The Empire of Byzium was formed in 36 BC as part of the Romian Empire, but in 278 AD the empire grew to big and the emperor decided to split the empire in two, the western half and the eastern half, sortly after the empire became so influenced by Christianity that it adopted it as the state religion in 320AD. After the collapse of the West Romian Empire in 456 AD with the fall of the capital of Romia to the Vas', the Eastern half renamed itself the Byzian Empire with the capital at Byzium, center of all trade at that time. It became one of the most powerful and richest empires in the world, unqustioned in military, even when the Bulars, Bokians, and Alamani attacked the empire in the north, it's weakest defended area, the Byzians push them back. It wasn't until 712 AD when its military started to fail. In that year the desert tribes of the east formed an alliance and became one standing entity, forming the Sultanate the Qu'ranians, flying under the banner of Islam. Set out to conquer the empire starting with taking it's land in the southeast. Evertually the Byzians called on their allies in the west for help in 1090 AD, including the Ittians descendents of the western Romians speaking the same language as the west, Lanian. The Kingdom of Malarus, a nation composed of 12 different islands, and Byzium's close and long time ally the Armitian Kingdom, other nations like the Frankia, the Spani, and the Ventio, also descended of the western Romians. During the First Desert War, one of many, was fought between Byzium and it's allies and the Qu'ranians and later the Sejuk Sultanate, formed in 1180 AD. The first few wars all worked out well for Byzium, from until the 4th Desert War, when Frankia, Spani, and Ventio decided to attack Byzium, the siege took two years, with the Byzians holding out the Three nations gave up the siege, but would not aid Byzium in any future wars. In 1302 the Sejuk invaded Armitia, after taking over the Qu'ranians, and took over the entire kingdom, the Byzians acted fast and marched onto the former Armitian Captial of Anis and took it over. Trying in reinstate the kingdom without success, due to corrupt politicians in Armitia and lack of money and defence, forcing it to become a provence in the empire. During the 6th Desert War the Sejuks took over one of the major Byzian cities, Trazion, making it their new capital. The war finally ended in 1410 AD, due to Trazion's position on the coast it became a key trading city, and boosted the money supply in the Sultanate. The Byzians experienced a time of prosperity until 1465.
