The Federal Republic of Mathun is a huge, genial nation, renowned for its public floggings, keen interest in outer space, and ubiquitous missile silos. The compassionate, hard-working, democratic, devout population of 237 million Mathunians have some civil rights, but not too many, enjoy the freedom to spend their money however they like, to a point, and take part in free and open elections, although not too often.

The relatively small government juggles the competing demands of Welfare, Defense, and Education. The average income tax rate is 20.3%.

The National Seal of the Federal Republic of MathunIt Says "Libertas omnium" which translates to "Freedom for all."

The very strong Mathunian economy, worth 15.6 trillion Manjories a year, is broadly diversified and led by the Book Publishing industry, with major contributions from Door-to-door Insurance Sales, Uranium Mining, and Information Technology. Average income is 65,870 Manjories, and evenly distributed, with the richest citizens earning only 3.2 times as much as the poorest.

Sharks are enjoying their deliveries of canned food, social networking sites have discussion groups devoted to planning terrorist attacks, kids' party bags often contain candy and e-cigarettes, and most people suffer from some form of hearing loss. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown. Mathun's national animal is the Penguin, which teeters on the brink of extinction due to heavy metals seepage into national waterways.

Mathun gained independence from the Empire of Britannia and was officially recognized as an sovereign nation in the year 1813, but Mathun declared independence on May 29, 1808. The first flag used for the Mathun Colony had the Union Jack in the upper left and a shield with a single star on the right. The first flag of Mathun was a blue flag with a single star on it. It was the flag of the Mathun Independence Army, not a single flag has survived, the English burned 70% of the flags during the war, and the one that survived the war was lost were lost when the Mathun National History Museum in Las Mathun was bombed by Rinnanian Terrorists in 2002 (The Mathun National History Museum was on the first 2 floors of the Las Mathun International Business Tower, the structure survived the attack and the Terrorists were arrested, but some of the artifacts were lost. The Constitution and other historical documents survived.) The first national flag of the Federal Republic of Mathun is on the left. In 1889 a new flag was created. The flag was changed again in 1894 because the new flag was disliked by the public. The current flag has been used since 1894 is on the right under the first flag.
